PogamutUT2004

Pogamut, UT2004, Ubuntu, Spectate doesn't work

I'm trying to get working Pogamut with UT2004, netBeans on Ubuntu 11.10

The server CTF-1on1-Joust?game=GameBots2004.BotCTFGame is running.
I'm created an empty bot in netBeans
Running the netBeans project I can see the bot (running) in the UTlocal Server
So everything is seems working, but when I click on UTlocal --> Spectate in order to run UT2004 nothing happens....

I've downloaded the UT server here: http://downloads.unrealadmin.org/UT2004/ version 3339 patched to the 3369

Any ideas?

Thanks!
Hi!

Thanks for bug reporting! Unfortunately, we do not support Linux officially due to our time constraints, we're very sorry that the feature is not working :-(

Have you checked Pogamut preferences in NetBeans?

Otherwise I will have to ask you to manually run UT2004 and connect to the match via its GUI.

Best,
Jimmy
In the Pogamut options in netBeans there's only the Timeline TAB and i don't see any usefull settings...

I tried by running UT directly:
1) In the System directory of the file UT Server of the file i've downloaded using the link above there's also a ut2004-bin-linux-amd64 executable process, but if i run it, I receive the error:
"Failed to enter NvidiaLogo.ut2: Can't find file 'NvidiaLogo.ut2'

2) If I run the UT2004demo downloaded from somewhere (it should be the official demo version), I can see the Pogamut Server inside the server lists in the Host Game mode, but if I try to run it, UT crashes with the error:

Can't find file for package 'SkaarjPack_rc'
center pointUdpGamespyQuery DM-Rankin.UdpGamespyQuery (Function IpDrv.UdpGamespyQuery.PreBeginPlay:0167) Assertion failed, line 58

I've also an original version of UT2004, (DVD version), but unluckily there isn't the linux installer :-(

I also tried to download ut2004 from here http://www.liflg.org/?catid=6&gameid=17, but the installer crashes after I put the cd key.

:-( i'm so sad
wow I don't know how i've done, but i succeded to install UT2004 (my dvd version) with this linux installer http://www.liflg.org/?catid=6&gameid=17.

If i'll succeed also to run pogamut i'll post a tutorial
Yes, Instead of use the SPECTATE function into netBeans, I've opened UT2004 (the game, installed by the DVD), > join Game > LAN tab > double click on UT2004Server > I could see the empty bot... I think it worked...maybe...
Congrat!

It would be cool if you can provide a tutorial! If you will put some directions together we will happily add them to our tutorials sections.

Cheers!
Jimmy
My tutorial is here:

feedbacks are welcomed!!

Hi!

Extremely cool :-)

I've forwarded the tutorial to our group internal mailing list so our Linux guys can check that out.

Cheers,
Jimmy
:-) well, more or less the tutorial is the same as the one for windows..

I had some issues not completely related to Pogamut, but with UT2004, and UT2004 Server...

Anyway... it could help someone who had my troubles... :-)

Absolutely!

I'm very glad you've invested your time into the tutorial, I got such questions (regarding Pogamut on Linux)
from my students occasionally as well. So finally I can point them to some resource with hints.

Thanks,
Jimmy
