Pogamut Netbeans IDE Plugin

Changing Path to Game

Hi,

Yesterday I tried to run my bot from an external hard drive, where I had Netbeans and Unreal Tournament 2004 installed, but when trying to connect to the server I got an error message that C:\Games\Unreal Tournament 2004 didn't exist. Obviously, it wouldn't exist because I had UT2004 installed on an external drive, and specified the correct path during Pogamut3 installation...

I looked through a number of configuration files to find somewhere to change the filepath, but couldn't see it anywhere obvious.

As I really need to be able to run my bot off the external drive for a presentation, I would very much appreciate some pointers as to what I need to do to get it to run, and where to find the filepath that I need to change.

Thanks,

Rowan
Hi!

Which program is throwing this message on you NetBeans?

I've looked to NetBeans plugin and its sheet with path-to-UT2004 is lost, but that should not cripple anything anyway.

I'll try to contact Rudolf Kadlec who has written the plugin for more information, please for now,
describe the problem in greater detail (steps you're taking and precise moment when the error message pops up).

Thanks!
Jimmy
Hi,

Thanks for your reply.

The error occurs when I try to connect to the server to spectate - at this point I had not tried to connect the bots as I wanted to check first that the server was running properly when started from the external hard drive.

The steps were:
- start netbeans (installed on the external hard drive)
- add a new server from the services tab
- start the server (from gamebots file in UT2004 system folder, installed on the external hard drive).
- attempt to spectate

All programs were installed on the external hard drive (Netbeans, UT2004, Pogamut 3) - Netbeans recognised the plugin, and the Gamebots files to start a server are in the Unreal Tournament 2004\System folder.

Hope this information helps,

Thanks,

Rowan
Hi.

You can spectate the server using UT2004 game interface. (were you talking about spectate button in the NetBeans UT2004 servers?). Just launch UT2004 game (with UT2004/System/UT2004.exe), there go to join game. In favorites add desired IP (for localhost enter 127.0.0.1 ) and connect to the game. Does this help?

best,

Hi!

As you have suspected, the problem lies in the path the NetBeans is using for UT2004. It can't detect when you move the installation of UT2004 once set up during the installation.

Unfortunately, the page from "NetBeans -> menu -> Tools -> Options -> Pogamut sheet" that allowed you to configure it somehow disappeared ... I'll try to fix it as soon as possible.

For now, please use the way Michal Bida has suggested. I.e., manually launch UT2004 and connect to GB2004 server.

Best,
Jimmy
Hi!

I'm sorry we can't fix your problem user-friendly way by providing an option to specify the path directly inside NetBeans option.

But you can specify environment variable "pogamut.ut2004.home"

e.g. set pogamut.ut2004.home="c:\ut2004" and it should work as we have hierarchical property loader that will use environment variable and not the internal one from .property file.

Please, try it and let me know if it helped.

Cheers!
Jimmy
