pogamut & ut2004 in linux

Hi:

I am a student of computer engineering and my final year project is to participate in the next botprize. I usually works on linux and since ut2004 can run natively in this so I tried to install pogamut. After fighting with windows to obtain the cd key (I buy through steam) and with the linux installer I found a problem that I could not solve: where can I found Unreal Engine 2 Runtime for linux?

In the link that you suggest is said that there is no version of linux or mac and for the 2226.20.01 version says that it could be "if demand warrants". guess something like this is not exactly in high demand.

When he had almost given up hope I saw this thread in the forum, where Chemfy presents a problem when going from version 2 to 3 and he says he uses linux. So... what can I do to use it too?

Thanks for your help!
Hi,
you don't have to install Unreal Engine 2 Runtime (UE2). All previous Botprize events were using UT2004. UE2 is just an alternative free 3D environment so you can develop your bot just for UT2004. No need for UE2 at all. Just uncheck the UE2 packages in the installer.

During this week I tried to install pogamut on several computers with Linux and I have not succeeded. I uncheck the UE2 and the installation begins. However when trying to install ut2004 stuff, the following error is thrown.
File executor error: Error executing /bin/chmod a+x /usr/local/pogamut/TODO

Unchecking each box separately I found that the error is triggered only when you select ut2004Patch. I do not know if I can work without this patch, you may find it online. I write it here for repair and to help someone in the same situation in the future.

Thaks again for your help!
Oh! I found another bug. Since installing pogamut, whenever I close netbeans, a window that says netbeans is being updated is open and then netbeans runs again, closing a nice endless loop. I thought it was because the installation had failed, but also occurs when the installation is successful. I've tried on a clean machine with openjdk and sunjdk and the result is the same. I am forced to remove netbeans and the entire contents of the nb folder an then install netbeans again to be able to run the ide normally.

I'm ussing netbeans 6.9.1. Any ideas?
Sorry, I'm ussing netbeans 6.9.1 and pogamut 3.0.11
Hi!

1) You usually don't need to install patch through the installer. Most UT2004 versions are already at 3369. Anyway if it won't work, just apply the patch manually (find it through google). You will know it doesn't work - the UT2004 server will crash often if you don't have the right version. :-) So definitely uncheck the patch.

2) Netbeans endless loop - yeah I once got this bug too. It was on Windows 7 and the problem was that NetBeans did NOT have rights to change files in their own folder! So solution could be to set NetBeans folder to be +rw for everyone on the machine ( + maybe set the same to properties folder of NetBeans - in Windows it is find under user profile folder .netbeans . Don't know where is it on linux.).

Hope this helps. Let us know if it worked!

Best,
Michal
Sorry for not answering sooner. The change permissions it worked perfectly.
